Same Same but Different – By Christine Sims

This is my first time in Bangkok, Thailand. It’s an amazing city to say the least. The week before I was in Phnom Penh, Cambodia serving with AIM. It has been a little bit of an adjustment coming from Cambodia to Thailand.

The two cities are beautiful in different ways. Bangkok has more a city lifestyle and Phnom Penh is slower paced. Both have fair amounts of tourism from all over the world and friendly locals. I know the Lord is moving in both cities and I’m excited to see Him move through us.

In Bangkok, our team has opportunities to prayer walk and build relationships over in Patpong, a red-light district. I’ve sensed His presence with us every night. He is the reason I can look at the people in Patpong with compassion and earnestly desire to show them love.

Whether it’s the women in human trafficking, the people buying the services, vendors, tourists or locals-Jesus calls us to love. I hope and pray that one day I can return to Phnom Penh and Bangkok.  When I leave I know that I will miss it here. So until that day comes, I will be present and available to God and how He wants to use me here in this beautiful city.
