Purple is everywhere in Thailand. This maybe one more reason I enjoy visiting Thailand. This is my 4th but not last, visit. Purple is the purple queen plant filling the flower boxes along the outside of the corner restaurant we walk by everyday.
Purple is the color of the inside of the popular taro plant. Many foods are made from this “hairy potato” plant such as bread, ice cream, chips and pancakes.
Purple is the color used by the popular SCB, Siam Commercial Bank. There are branches and ATM’s all over the city and probably more locations than the 7 Eleven!
As I see all the purple in Thailand, I don’t just see plants or food or businesses. I see a beautiful color created by my great God. It is just a color that symbolizes royalty. It is the color of the robe my King wore before He bore my sins and nailed them to the cross. He has paid my debt in full. I owe nothing. I am royalty because of Jesus and my faith and trust in Him.
So, as I look around the beautiful city of Bangkok, while there is much darkness, I see hope. I see light. I see purple. I see Jesus. I pray the people of Thailand will see Him too.
