As I walk town the street of Pat Pong, sadness overwhelmes my heart. A street of silent screams, invisible tears, and a desperation for the one true God. The women working each night strive to fill the pleasure of men, in the hope of making enough money to put food on the table, pay the bills, and even take care of their children. Their bodies are for sale, when God intended them to be priceless. His children, His precious jewels. Each cry out of pleasure is traded for cries of pain, and the next night . . . Repeat.
Each bar has many levels. The higher the level, the more intense the favors become, and the darkness is more apparent. The 4,000 women working each night seem to have lost their shine, even though some of their outfits are adorned in jewels. You can see the emptiness through their eyes. The miserable, all consuming emptiness.
But, in the middle of all the bars is a place of hope, peace, and faith. This previously used bar now carries the name of Rahab Ministries. A light in such a dark place.
This ministry helps women who want to escape the nightlife. They provide educational classes, devotions, and give the ladies the opportunity to work for them by making beautiful jewelry, but Christ is the main focus. Many of the women accept Christ as their personal Savior, and find their main purpose of living . . . To glorify the One most high. The office is located on the top and brightest floor. When walking up the stairs, you see the light, rather than becoming engulfed in the darkness. It is such a beautiful place, filled with such sweet women.
Rahab Ministries provides hope, love, pure passion for Christ, and the beginning of a new life. They are a huge success, but they are only getting started. I’m blessed to have taken part of this ministry, and I look forward to hearing all of their amazing success stories.
